Hon. Phyllis D. Thompson to Receive CLEO EDGE Award

MADISON, WISCONSIN, April 5, 2024—Hon. Phyllis D. Thompson will be honored by the Council on Legal Education Opportunity, Inc. (CLEO) with a CLEO EDGE award at a reception and awards program next week in Washington, DC.

Judge Thompson, a Senior Judge on the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, is a former member of the Board of Trustees of the National Conference of Bar Examiners (NCBE); she also chaired NCBE’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee for many years. She will be one of four individuals recognized by CLEO for their accomplishments and commitment to education, diversity, and greater equality in the legal profession.

“This is an important recognition of Judge Thompson’s accomplishments,” said Judith Gundersen, NCBE President and CEO. “Over the course of her distinguished career she has made significant, wide-ranging contributions to the legal profession, and the work she has done in support of diversity and equity in the profession and beyond is profoundly important.”
