We recommend that individuals requesting accommodations submit their request as far in advance of their desired test administration as possible, and ideally no later than the Recommended Submission Date for that administration, to allow for any necessary follow-up and ensure adequate time for review of the request.

All requests submitted by the registration deadline for a particular test administration will be reviewed for that administration; however, the later you submit your request after the Recommended Submission Date, the higher the risk that you will not be able to test on your preferred test date, at your preferred location, and/or at your preferred test time.

Please note: Requests, including forms and documentation, received by NCBE after the registration deadline for a specific MPRE administration will not be considered for that administration of the exam.

Important. We encourage applicants to request accommodations by the Recommended Submission Date for their desired test administration in order to facilitate a timely notification of our decision (determination). Accommodations must be approved BEFORE you register and schedule a test appointment at a Pearson VUE testing center; new or additional accommodations CANNOT be added to an existing test appointment. For this reason, we strongly advise that requests be submitted well in advance of and no later than the Recommended Submission Date.

It typically takes NCBE at least 25 business days to review a request. The later that applicants submit their requests after the Recommended Submission Date, the greater the chance that they will not receive a decision in sufficient time to enable Pearson VUE to arrange for and prepare approved accommodations by their desired test administration. In that event, you may still test under standard conditions (without accommodations). You may also choose to postpone taking the exam until the next test administration (refer to the Important Dates table above).

Also, note that if your request is denied or only partially approved, an appeal or request for reconsideration of our decision may take an additional 25 business days to review. Please keep this in mind when considering when to submit your request for accommodations.

All MPRE test accommodations requests received by the registration deadline for a particular MPRE administration, including appeals, requests for reconsideration, and extension requests, will be reviewed for that administration. Applicants will have the opportunity to register and schedule for that administration of the MPRE after they receive their determination, regardless of whether their request is approved or denied. Applicants who receive their test accommodations determination after the registration deadline are strongly advised to register and schedule their test appointment within 48 hours from the time the determination is posted to their NCBE Account File Cabinet. Registration and scheduling will not be held open indefinitely.

Requests, including forms and documentation, received by NCBE after the registration deadline for a specific MPRE administration will not be considered for that administration of the exam.

Once you receive your determination, if you do not plan to appeal or request reconsideration, complete the NCBE portion of the MPRE registration process in your NCBE Account and schedule your test appointment with Pearson VUE as soon as you can. While the registration deadline is several weeks prior to the test administration, some test accommodations may take longer for the Pearson VUE testing center to arrange. If you wait until the last minute to schedule your test appointment, you run the risk of not being able to test on your preferred test date, at your preferred location, and/or at your preferred test time, and additional travel may be required.

Some accommodations require custom testing materials and/or arrangements and additional preparation time. Please refer to your determination letter, posted in your NCBE Account File Cabinet, for additional instructions if applicable.

Test appointments can be rescheduled for a different appointment time or a different testing center location for the same test administration for which you originally registered (e.g., you can reschedule an August appointment for another test location, day, or time in August). Exam appointments must be rescheduled at least 48 hours prior to the first day of the test administration. You cannot transfer your registration from one administration to another, e.g., from August to November.
